Breastfeeding Support with Hannah

I was a qualified midwife when I had my firstborn. I really enjoyed my pregnancy and I went on to have a beautiful, calm homebirth. I felt so confident entering the fourth trimester but it wasn’t long until my confidence came crashing down. My little one had a tongue tie. It took a while to be diagnosed and feeding was relentless. He cried often and slept little. My mental health plummeted and it was a really difficult time. I look back on that time with a mixture of sadness and absolute pride that I managed to navigate it. Breastfeeding my firstborn was the hardest thing I have ever done.

Here when you need us.

As midwives, and mothers, the Grow+Gather team know first hand how wonderful breastfeeding can be but also, how challenging. I feel passionately that all families should make the right feeding decision for them. And that might be exclusively breastfeeding, combi feeding, pumping or formula. I never want you to feel any pressure. But if you have decided to breastfeed, and things are tricky then I would love to be able to support you. I offer gentle, practical and evidence based solutions that are tailored to meet the needs of your new family.

In January 2025, I started preparing to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). An IBCLC is a highly trained professional who provides expert support with breastfeeding challenges. The term ‘IBCLC’ is a protected qualification which involves over 95 hours of lactation education and will culminate in a four hour exam in March 2026.

I can offer support with:

  • Nipple or breast pain

  • Slow weight gain

  • Difficulties with latch or position

  • Concerns with supply

  • Combi feeding

  • Sleepy babies

  • Tongue tie (diagnosis but not division)

  • Emotional and practical support

  • Twins
